Abstract

Noam Chomsky, one of the most influential linguists of the 20th century, put forward theories that led to revolutionary changes in the fields of linguistics, psychology, and cognitive science. His concept of "linguistic competence" helps to understand the processes of knowing and using language more deeply. This thesis discusses Chomsky's theories of linguistic competence, its main principles, and its impact.
