CONTEMPORARY DEFINITIONS IN THE WORKS OF ANNEMARIYE SCHIMMEL

This article discusses how the German Islamic scholar and orientalist Annemarie Schimmel (1922–2003) condemned negative qualities in her works. Several of her internationally renowned writings are analyzed. Based on Schimmel's views, the article criticizes such negative traits as laziness, arrogance, ill intent, and indulgence in one's own desires.
