COMPARISON OF STANDARD ARABIC (FUSSHA) AND DIALECTS IN THE CONTEXT OF VOCABULARY LEARNING

Abstract

This article analyzes the differences in vocabulary acquisition between Standard Arabic (Fussha) and Arabic dialects. Arabic is used in formal and everyday communication in two forms: Fussha is the literary and official language, used in education, diplomacy, and the media, while dialects are the everyday spoken language of every country and region in the Arab world. The article examines the lexical composition, vocabulary, pronunciation, and scope of use of these two forms of the language.

The article also discusses which option is more effective from a language learning perspective. It emphasizes the importance of Fussha for academic and formal purposes, and dialectal vocabulary for social and everyday communication. The article provides recommendations on vocabulary acquisition strategies, methods of using audiovisual resources, and the effectiveness of studying Fussha and dialects in parallel. This study is an important guide for students, linguists, and translators studying Arabic, helping them understand which option to pay more attention to in the language learning process.
