Coronary circulation is the circulation of blood through the vessels that supply the heart muscle (myocardium). It plays a critical role in maintaining the heart's function and health, as the myocardium is highly dependent on a constant supply of oxygen and nutrients. Coronary circulation consists of the coronary arteries, veins, and capillaries, with the main vessels being the left and right coronary arteries, which branch off the aorta. This article explores the anatomy of coronary circulation, its physiological significance, and its clinical relevance in various cardiovascular diseases, including coronary artery disease (CAD), myocardial infarction (MI), and ischemic heart disease (IHD). Additionally, recent advancements in diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for coronary artery diseases are discussed.
