Abstract

Obesity among women of reproductive age has been increasing steadily over the past few decades, with significant implications for maternal and fetal health. Labor induction in obese patients often poses a clinical dilemma due to altered pharmacodynamics, increased cesarean delivery risk, and suboptimal cervical conditions. This comprehensive study evaluates the effectiveness of labor induction strategies in obese women, including mechanical, pharmacological, and combination methods. The study was conducted through a retrospective cohort analysis involving 500 obese pregnant women (BMI ≥30 kg/m²) between 2015 and 2020. Mechanical induction, especially using Foley catheter, resulted in higher success rates in vaginal deliveries and reduced labor durations compared to pharmacological methods alone.
