Abstract

Intestinal infections in young children remain one of the most pressing problems in pediatrics. Breastfeeding, due to its unique composition and the presence of immunomodulatory components, contributes to a milder course of the disease and a reduced risk of complications. This article summarizes modern data on the pathogenesis, clinical features and therapy of acute intestinal infections in children who are breastfed, and also considers the factors influencing a favorable outcome of the disease.
