Abstract

The field of modern English literature and artistic text analysis has evolved significantly, shaped by various theoretical frameworks. One of the most influential contributions came from René Wellek and Austin Warren, whose work Theory of Literature laid the foundation for contemporary literary criticism. Their interdisciplinary approach to literature, integrating aspects of linguistics, aesthetics, and structuralism, revolutionized how literary texts are analyzed. This article explores the core principles of modern English literature and artistic text analysis by examining the works of Wellek and Warren. It focuses on their emphasis on form, content, and the relationship between the two, providing insight into their lasting influence on literary theory. By analyzing their contributions, this paper aims to underscore the relevance of their ideas in the context of modern literary analysis.
