The study explores the nature, structure, and functioning of terminology and term systems in the English and Uzbek languages. It examines how terms are formed, categorized, and standardized within different scientific and professional domains, highlighting both universal and language-specific features. The research emphasizes the linguistic, cognitive, and cultural factors influencing term formation, including word-building processes, borrowing, semantic narrowing, and metaphorization. A comparative analysis reveals similarities in the conceptual organization of terms across the two languages, particularly in fields such as linguistics, technology, and law, while also identifying significant differences shaped by historical development, sociolinguistic context, and national terminological traditions. The study further addresses challenges related to term equivalence, translation, and harmonization between English and Uzbek, underscoring the need for systematic approaches to terminography and language planning. Overall, the article contributes to a deeper understanding of how terminology operates as a coherent system, supporting effective communication, scientific progress, and intercultural knowledge exchange in both linguistic communities.
