Abstract

The growing environmental pressures faced by modern enterprises have transformed environmental management from a compliance-driven obligation into a strategic economic instrument. Environmental Management Systems (EMS), particularly those aligned with ISO 14001 standards, are increasingly adopted to enhance operational efficiency, reduce environmental costs, and improve long-term financial performance. This article examines the economic effectiveness of EMS implementation through cost reduction mechanisms, productivity enhancement, innovation incentives, and financial stability. Drawing on international empirical evidence and selected data from Uzbekistan, the study demonstrates that EMS adoption contributes not only to environmental sustainability but also to enterprise competitiveness and macroeconomic resilience.
