The ethnogenesis of the Uzbek and Tajik peoples represents a complex historical process shaped by ancient civilizations, migrations, linguistic developments, and socio-political transformations in Central Asia. This article presents a comparative analysis of the origins of the Uzbek and Tajik peoples based on classical, medieval, and modern historical sources. Using archaeological findings, written chronicles, linguistic evidence, and recent interdisciplinary research, the study examines similarities and differences in their ethnogenetic formation. The research highlights the coexistence and interaction of Iranian-speaking and Turkic-speaking populations, emphasizing their shared historical space while identifying distinct ethno-cultural trajectories. Scientific novelty is achieved through a source-based comparative synthesis that integrates recent historiographical interpretations and archaeological data.
