THE ISSUE OF NATIONAL CONSCIOUSNESS IN ABDULLA QODIRIY’S NOVELS

Abdulla Qodiriy (1894–1938) is a prominent representative of Uzbek literature who actively reflected issues of national consciousness, national values, and the spiritual development of the people in his works. Through his novels, especially “O‘tgan Kunlar” (Bygone Days) and “Mehrobdan Chayon” (Scorpion from the Altar), the author aimed to instill in readers a sense of national identity, moral education, and patriotism. By means of his novels, Qodiriy reveals social and political problems, national character, and value-related issues in a unique artistic style. Literary studies show that the issue of national consciousness in Qodiriy’s novels is addressed from several perspectives: preservation of cultural heritage, protection of national values, critical attitude toward foreign influences, and moral education of the younger generation. In “O‘tgan Kunlar”, Qodiriy depicts the social and spiritual life of Uzbek society and calls for awareness of national values, emphasizing the importance of preserving national identity through historical events. In “Mehrobdan Chayon”, national consciousness is reflected through personal and social conflicts, moral choices, and value-based dilemmas.
Research indicates that national consciousness in Qodiriy’s novels is examined not only in historical and cultural contexts but also in connection with the spiritual, ethical, and moral development of modern individuals. Therefore, his works are valuable not only as literary masterpieces but also as important sources for developing national consciousness and moral education.
This article systematically analyzes the issue of national consciousness in Abdulla Qodiriy’s novels, his artistic style, methods of presenting social and spiritual problems, and his role in preserving national values and educating youth. The research findings serve as a scientific basis for studying Uzbek literature and cultural heritage.
