MIND GAMES ON COURT: CONTRASTING ANXIETY AND AGGRESSION IN MALE UNIVERSITY-LEVEL LAWN TENNIS AND BADMINTON PLAYERS
Keywords:
Mind Games, Anxiety, AggressionAbstract
This study investigates the interplay of anxiety and aggression among male university-level lawn tennis and badminton players during competitive matches. Sports psychology research has long recognized the pivotal roles of both anxiety and aggression in athletic performance, but their interaction in specific sports contexts remains underexplored. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, including quantitative measures of anxiety and aggression levels, as well as qualitative interviews, this research delves into the nuanced ways these psychological factors manifest on the court. The findings reveal contrasting patterns in the expression of anxiety and aggression between the two sports, shedding light on the intricate dynamics that influence player behavior and performance. Understanding the interplay between anxiety and aggression in different sports contexts can offer valuable insights for coaches, trainers, and athletes aiming to optimize mental strategies and enhance competitive outcomes.
