Abstract

Hypothyroidism is one of the most common endocrine disorders and remains a clinically important contributor to cardiovascular morbidity, especially in middle-aged and older adults. Thyroid hormones play a central role in myocardial contractility, heart rate regulation, vascular tone, lipid metabolism, and endothelial function; therefore, even mild thyroid hormone deficiency can adversely affect the cardiovascular system.
