Abstract

This article analyzes the history of the formation of the painting collection preserved in the Museum of History and Culture of the Syrdarya region. The study substantiates that the foundation of this collection was the fund of the former Syrdarya Regional Art Gallery, and that the works collected, acquired, and received as donations during its period of activity were subsequently transferred to the museum collection. The article also highlights various stages of the gallery’s activity, the processes of collection enrichment, the organization of exhibitions and excursions, as well as the state of scientific documentation of the museum holdings. Special attention is given to issues related to the preservation, registration, and scholarly study of the regional heritage of fine arts, along with an analysis of existing problems and possible ways to address them.
