DIDACTIC OPPORTUNITIES OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES IN DEVELOPING THE COGNITIVE COMPETENCIES OF FUTURE ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHERS

This study explores the didactic potential of digital technologies in fostering the cognitive competencies of prospective English language teachers. In the context of rapid digitalization and the transformation of educational paradigms, the need to enhance cognitive skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, information processing, and reflective learning has become increasingly significant. The research focuses on identifying effective pedagogical strategies and digital tools that support the development of these competencies within teacher education programs. A combination of theoretical analysis and practical observation is employed to examine how digital platforms, multimedia resources, and interactive applications contribute to more student-centered and cognitively engaging learning environments. The findings indicate that the integration of digital technologies not only improves learners’ cognitive engagement but also promotes autonomy, creativity, and adaptive thinking. Furthermore, the study highlights the importance of methodological refinement in aligning digital tools with instructional objectives to achieve sustainable learning outcomes. The results can be used to enhance curriculum design and teaching practices in higher education institutions preparing future English language teachers.
