LINGUOCULTURAL FEATURES OF WORDS DENOTING PLACE NAMES IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK

Abstract

The article examines the linguistic and cultural features of terms denoting place names in English and Uzbek. It explores the lexical and semantic characteristics of toponyms, their connection to cultural context, as well as interlingual differences and similarities. The research findings indicate that the lexical units representing place names in each language are closely linked to culturally specific perspectives, historical contexts, and geographical experiences. The article emphasizes the importance of studying toponyms in the fields of linguistics and cultural studies, and it also presents methodological considerations related to the translation and interpretation of place names.
