The present study investigates structural patterns and semantic shifts observed in the translation of English compound words into Uzbek, drawing on textual evidence from Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451. The research examines how morphologically compact compound formations in English are restructured and semantically reinterpreted within Uzbek literary discourse. Using a structural–comparative approach combined with contextual analysis, the article identifies recurrent translation strategies such as semantic generalization, structural expansion, and culturally motivated adaptation. The analysis demonstrates that differences in typological organization between English and Uzbek influence not only the formal representation of compound words but also their pragmatic and stylistic functions in the target text. Rather than treating semantic shifts as translation loss, the study argues that they represent systematic mechanisms ensuring communicative adequacy and textual coherence. By integrating structural description with semantic interpretation, the article proposes a nuanced perspective on compound word translation and contributes to ongoing discussions in contemporary translation studies and Uzbek linguistics.
