This article explores the pragmatic role and communicative significance of emotional interjections in Uzbek and English from a comparative perspective. Emotional interjections are examined as linguistic units that express spontaneous feelings and regulate interaction in discourse. The study analyzes their semantic flexibility, functional diversity, and context-dependent interpretation in both languages. Particular attention is given to the differences between Uzbek interjections, which tend to be polysemous and multifunctional, and English interjections, which are generally more semantically specialized and lexically differentiated. The research also highlights the role of interjections in enhancing illocutionary force, managing conversational flow, and expressing speaker stance. Empirical observations demonstrate that the use of interjections is influenced by situational context, communicative intent, and cultural norms. Furthermore, the study reveals that interjections serve as important markers of emotional expression and interpersonal communication in both linguistic systems. The findings contribute to the fields of pragmatics, comparative linguistics, and discourse analysis, emphasizing the need for further research on interjections in cross-linguistic and intercultural contexts.
